(First Investigation)

History: This is a beautiful home built in 1763 and has been kept in the family, generation after generation. It is filled with love and kindness both from the living and the dead. There is an old saying.."if only these walls could talk." If these walls could talk, they could probably clear up a few of the mysteries that lie within this beautiful structure.

Investigation: SPI (Souhegan Paranormal Investigators) has had the opportunity to investigate this home a few times over the last two years. Recently, we were called in again, and on June 21, 2008, we conducted a full scale investigation. Heading up the investigation were our two lead investigators, Bill Stinson and Chris Tamulevich. Susan Allen, our Case Manager, and Rita Lacharite, one of our field investigators also prepared for what we hoped would be an eventful evening. Our mission was an attempt to learn about the entitites that reside in this beautiful structure and to provide the homeowner with our findings. Though we had investigated the home in the past there were unanswered questions and we were trying to find the answers.

We spoke with the homeowner for a while and was told about some paranormal activity that often takes place in the cellar and in two of the bedrooms on the second floor. At approximately 7:30 p.m., Bill and Chris began setting up the equipment placing the cameras in the "hot spots." At approximately 8:15 p.m., we were ready to go "lights out." Our first area of interest was the cellar.

The Cellar:  The cellar is a dirt cellar with a couple of alcoved areas, an oil tank, a furnace and a couple of wooden planks lying on the dirt floor. We each had a folding chair with us. After setting up the chairs, we walked around the cellar to get a "feel" for it and then settled down and prepared to take pictures and do some EVP work. (EVP stands for electronic voice phenomena. An EVP cannot be heard with the naked ear but is recorded on an EVP recorder. The EVP is heard when the EVP recording is reviewed.) We each had cameras and within a few minutes the batteries in all of our cameras died. It is said that entities use energy to enhance themselves or their activities and batteries are one way for them to become energized. We always bring spare batteries on an investigation so we replaced the batteries. We stayed in the cellar for approximately 1-1/2 hrs. Sue had a personal experience which you will read about in the following paragraph. We also recorded some EVP's and captured a couple events on video.

Personal Experience in the Cellar:  We were sitting quietly doing EVP work and Sue thought she felt a cobweb on the left side of her face. It felt like it was moving into her left nostril. She brushed it away. The more she tried to brush it away the stronger the sensation became. We felt that a cobweb might have fallen from one of the overhead beams. When we began thinking about it, we asked ourselves how it could have fallen unless something or someone had disturbed it. Cobwebs have a way of "sticking" unless they are disturbed. The next question was how could it create the sensation of "traveling" into Sue's nostril unless when Sue brushed it away the cobweb matter moved in an upward direction into the nostril area. Lastly, the bigger question is that when Sue brushed the cobweb matter from her face why wasn't there any cobweb matter on her hand. Normally, you would brush the cobweb matter away and wipe your hand on something such as your shirt or a towel, but there was no matter on her hand to wipe away. It is said that if you are touched by an entity, you might get a "cobweb" feeling. Was Sue touched by an entity? We don't know for sure, but right now we don't have any other explanation.

EVP's From the Cellar:  

1. Bill said, "If somebody's down here with us could you change that light please?" Soon you hear a sound similar to one beat on a tom-tom, followed by a second beat on a tom-tom. Rita said, "It's too early for them." The sound of the tom-tom is now heard a third time.

2. Sue said, "If you are here with us this evening, can you show yourself or can you change the meter, change the light from green to amber?" Within seconds, a sound is heard as if someone is "snorting or blowing" into a microphone once, twice, and finally a third time.

3. After we left the cellar to go to the second floor, we kept our video camera focused on the cellar. When we reviewed the video, we did not see any mist or apparition but the camera recorded the sound of a plank being dragged across the dirt floor, a loud bang, and then footsteps ascending the cellar stairs. The camera was probably angled in a direction other than where the activity was happening, and that might explain why we didn't catch it on video.

The Bedrooms:

When we left the cellar, we went up to the second floor. There are four bedrooms and a bath on the second floor along with some very unique nooks and crannies. Two of the bedrooms are "hot spots" for paranormal activity. We sat quietly in the first bedroom for about 1 hr. and 20 min. We took pictures and when reviewed, we had orbs in some of the pictures. We also got some incredible EVP's. We then moved into the second bedroom and stayed there for approximately 1-1/2 hrs. We did get a couple of pictures that showed orbs, as well as an incredible EVP.

EVP's From the First Bedroom: 

1. Rita and Sue are talking about a reflection on the door and Sue is asking Rita where she thinks the reflection is coming from. As they are talking, a female voice is heard saying, "Easter bunny in the mirror and I can't get her out" and then there are two syllables that sound like a baby beginning to whine and then the words "Help me."

2. Sue said, "Can you tell us your name?" and very faintly a female voice can be heard saying, "Sarah". We later learned from the homeowner that there was a family member named Sarah that lived in the home during the 1800's who was a schoolteacher. I did not include the audio for this EVP as it is very faint and difficult to hear.

3. We were all sitting very quietly and none of us were talking. A distinct female voice can be heard on the EVP recorder saying, "Tell Chris it's an inch." Chris is a lead investigator, but we have no idea what this meant as none of us were having any conversation about any subject.

1. Bill said, "Can you make the light change, please?" Within seconds, a male voice is heard saying, "What light? It's broke. You gotta clean it up." 

Considering past and current investigations, we feel that we have provided the homeowner with enough proof to conclude that the house is definately occupied by spirit entities. There is no reason to believe that any of these entities are harmful or evil. They appear to be attached to the residence out of their love for the property.
