(Second Investigation)
August 13, 2009
The Souhegan Paranormal Investigators (SPI) group was invited to return for a second
investigation. It was requested that we return on August 13, 2009, as this was the anniversary date of Dr.
William Dean's death, who was murdered in 1918. If you haven't already read the information pertaining to Dr.
Dean's death on the page describing our first investigation, you will probably want to read it
now.
The Deschenes family
invited us to arrive early. They had prepared for us to join them in a family barbecue. Their kindness
and hospitality was overwhelming. They certainly went out of their way to make it an enjoyable evening for
us. We want to thank everyone that attended the barbecue as they made it a lot of
fun.
This was an outside investigation. When dusk fell, SPI prepared their equipment
and geared up to begin their investigation. Attending this investigation were Sue, Irene and Mario, Patti and John,
and our guests Distant Wolf and Dianne. We had hopes of capturing EVP's and interesting photos. Unfortunately, we
did not capture any EVP's, however, we did capture some interesting photos, and one of our new members, Patti, did
have a personal experience.
Personal Experience:
The investigation hadn't yet begun. There were approximately six of us gathered
around a table. Rob Deschenes was showing us two books that he had that were written about Dr. Dean's murder. One
of those books was the transcription of the trial that was held for Dr. Dean's murder. In our previous
investigation, we captured an EVP that sounds like an entity is saying, "Hold the rein, the rein", or "Oh,
Lorraine, Lorraine", or maybe even "Oh, Lor-ing, Lor-ing." We were looking through the pages of the books and
discussing this particular EVP. Patti suddenly felt a brief touch on her right shoulder. She was wearing a light
jacket and remembers feeling the pressure of the touch and her jacket moved slightly. She thought that it was odd
and asked John if he had put his hand on her shoulder and he said, "No." Patti described the tap as if someone
rested their hand on her shoulder for just a moment and then while pulling their hand away there was a slight pull
on her jacket. Patti said it happened so fast that she didn't have time to get scared. She said it did leave her
feeling very alert and very aware of her surroundings for the rest of the investigation.
The Investigation:
The evening was spent doing EVP work and taking photos. We were joined by some of the Deschenes
family members and friends. Those involved in the investigation were not fortunate enough to capture any
EVP's. However, some of us did capture some pretty interesting photos that allows us to believe that we
humans were not the only one's there that evening. We wrapped up the investigation about 11:30 p.m. Though we
were disappointed that we were not able to capture any EVP's, we are overwhelmed with the energy that we were
surrounded by that evening and the great photos we captured including the possible ghostly apparition of Dr.
Dean.
