Private Residence in Contoocook , NH
(First Investigation)
March 27, 2009
History: The SPI group was called upon to do an investigation at a
private residence in Contoocook, NH. The homeowner felt they might be experiencing some paranormal activity. The
house was built in 1896 and remained in the same family until sometime in the 1970's. It was then purchased by
another family who remained there until the current homeowner purchased it in 2000. It was within 6 months or so
after moving in that they became aware of certain events. The lights randomly flicker and when checking the light
bulbs, the bulbs are fine. Their cats act strange and cower and meow and look as if they are staring at something,
but nothing is seen with the naked eye. There has been an incident when one morning the homeowner got up and found
six slices of white bread carefully laid out on the counter in a square pattern. Another morning when the homeowner
arose from sleep, there was a piece of toilet paper stuck in the bedroom door which had been closed. When opening
the door, the piece of toilet paper was still attched to the roll and had been strung out down the hallway. At the
time these two latter events took place there was no one else in the home. Bizarre events such as these do not
happen often, however, it seemed of late that activity has once again begun to pick up. SPI accepted the challenge
to investigate and see if we could find some answers as to what was going on.
Investigation: The homeowner gave us a walk
through and showed us the "hot spots." The homeowner explained that the activity is usually in the master bedroom
and the kitchen. We asked if there is any activity in the son's room but was told that the son doesn't report claim
of such happenings. We set up our equipment, grabbed our EVP recorders and digital cameras, split up into three
teams and began the investigation. Each team stayed in a respective room for 45 minutes and then the teams would
switch rooms. Our main focus was on the master bedroom, the kitchen, and though not much seems to happen in the
son's room, we decided to focus on that as well. We began investigating at 7:45 p.m. and wrapped it up at
approximately 11:15 p.m.
Note: Using headphones will enhance the audio for your listening
pleasure.
Upon reviewing our videotape, we found we did not capture anything on video.
However, we did capture what we feel are valid EVP's. While Mario and Irene were in the son's room, they captured a
few interesting EVP's. Mario was speaking into his EVP recorder and asked Irene to take a couple of pictures. Irene
said, "I'll have to get your feet." Having said that a male spirit voice is heard saying "Don't take this off." At
the same time the words "this off" are being spoken, you can hear Mario say, "Anybody here?".
A second EVP was captured when Mario said, "Are there any spirits here?". If you listen
carefully, you can hear a moan. Mario then said, "Could you touch one of
us?" You can hear three taps. He then asks, "Could you give us a sound of some kind?" A noise like a "clunck" (for
lack of a better word) is heard and Mario asks again, "Some kind of a sign?" and another "clunk" can be
heard. Toward the end of the evening, Sue and Jessica were
doing some EVP work in the kitchen. The following EVP's were captured: Jessica and Sue were talking about the
investigators upstairs walking around and being a bit noisy. Jessica said, "They're walking around upstairs."
Listen closely and you can hear a female spirit voice say "Yes." A second EVP was captured
when Jessica is speaking and is saying, "Are you shy?". You can hear a female voice whisper "No" followed by a
giggle. Everything was pretty quiet and we captured this EVP that sounds like
"shhhhiiiiit." We will let you decide for yourself.
In our image gallery you will see a picture that was taken while Bill was in the
kitchen taking a reading with the KII meter. The meter was spiking and just above the meter, you can see an orb. Is
this a coincidence? We think not, but we will let you decide for yourself. Our overall conclusion is that this
house does have paranormal activity, but we do not feel it is haunted. We are looking forward to doing a second
investigation that may provide additional evidence.
