Mulligan's Restaurant, Northfield, NH 
(Second Investigation) - April 18, 2010

On Sunday evening, April 18, 2010, the SPI (Souhegan Paranormal Investigators) group ventured to Mulligan's Restaurant in Northfield, NH, for a second investigation.  Attending this investigation were Sue, Rita, Patti, John, and our newest addition, Michelle. We were also joined by observers, Psychic/Medium Nick Sangillo, and an employee of the restaurant named Marty. 

We arrived at 5:00 p.m. and were greeted by the owners, Chris and Betty.  We previously investigated the restaurant in October of 2009.  Since then, they have continued to experience some paranormal activity.  One evening an employee was cleaning up after closing and heard his name being called.  He heard it so clearly that he turned around thinking that someone was calling to him, but no one was there.  There is a swinging door between the kitchen and the salad bar area.  One day when Chris was working he was walking in and out of the swinging door.  As he pushed on the door to go into the kitchen the door wouldn't swing open.  He continued to push on it and it still wouldn't open.  He spoke harshly to the "spirit" who he thought might have been on the opposite side of the door using force to keep it from opening and said, "I don't have time for your games."  The door released and swung open.  Another day, Chris was preoccupied with work, and he kept feeling like something similar to a cobweb was brushing up against the side of his face.  Each time he went to brush it away, it kept coming back.  He finally got fed up with it and said, "Just cut the crap...." etc., etc.  It stopped. 

Our purpose was to see if we could capture evidence of anything paranormal that might still be lurking at Mulligan's Restaurant.

We set-up our 8-channel DVR and placed 6 cameras in areas that we thought might be hot spots. We also had a camcorder which Marty used in hopes to capture some paranormal activity. We grabbed our digital cameras, EVP recorders, EMF meters and went about the business of looking for ghosts/spirits.

The Results of the Investigation:

Michelle, who is a sensitive, began seeing a stagecoach in the front of the building with the letter P on the door of the coach. She couldn't make out the rest of the letters but thought it might have been something like Penn or Parker's Express. She saw a woman with brown hair worn in long curls get out of the stagecoach. There was a tall man dressed in a suit; a hat, and sporting a cane that remained in the coach. They both smiled at her. They were fashionably dressed and appeared to be of importance. Michelle felt that they had come because there was a woman in the upstairs bedroom of the house that had just had a stillborn baby girl. She thought the two women may have been sisters, but didn't know that for sure. There was also a black woman (maybe a nanny) in the bedroom comforting the woman who just had the stillborn child and a gentleman in the bedroom that was crying.

In the downstairs dining room that has the fireplace, which might have been a parlor at one time, Michelle could envision an elderly couple. The woman was clothed in a gray dress with a long apron and the man wore pants held up by suspenders. She couldn't make a connection between this elderly couple and the couple that arrived by coach, nor could she make the connection between this older couple and the woman who had the stillborn baby.

The Salad Bar Area:

• Michelle and Rita were investigating the salad bar area.  Michelle was picking up on the name "Gus" and felt certain that an entity named "Gus" was in the room with them.  Rita is heard saying, “Thank you.” Right after that at pos :01, a whispered voice can be heard saying, “Yeah, Gus.” As Rita continues talking, she can be heard saying “Gustava” and there was a whispered response but it is inaudible. 
• Rita is asking, “Tell me that you’re here.” At pos :02, what sounds to be female responds by saying “uhum, uhum.” 

The Kitchen Area:  

• Rita said, “Would you like to give us a sign?” At pos :06, a scraping noise can be heard. Being that the kitchen units are all stainless steel, either Rita or I could have scraped something along the steel. We are not aware of scraping anything however, the possibility does exist.   

The Dining Room (Lower Level):  This is the room where the piano is located and has been heard playing on it's own. 

• Rita asked, “What is the name of the lady that lived here?” At pos :14, a response thought to be a female can be heard saying, “uumm”.  
• Rita said, “I’d love to hear the piano play too. They say it’s been done before.” At pos :09 there is the sound of 3 pings”. Rita continues to say “How about now?” At pos :14, there are several strikes of what sounds like an out of tune high pitched piano key.  
• Rita asked, “How old were you when you died?” At pos :06, a response thought to be a female can be heard saying, “um” followed by another word that sounds like a male saying "what".  
• Michelle was picking up on a woman in this room who was quite sad. Michelle asked, “Why do you wanna cry?” At pos :06, someone can be heard whistling.
• Michelle was feeling a cold spot and asked,  "Do you have that cold spot again, mom?"  Sue replied, "No honey, I haven't."  At pos :11, what sounds to be female can be heard humming 3 syllables.  Patti, Sue, Rita, and Michelle all heard the humming. 
• As we completed our investigation in the Lower Level Dining Room, Sue and Rita were talking about investigating the Upper Level Dining Room. Rita said, “We’re gonna go over to where Edwin Cross sat.” At pos :22, what sounds to be a female voice said “Okay”.

The Tavern:

The Basement:

• John, Patti, and Marty were investigating the basement talking about the type of insulation down there that was stirring up the dirt floor. John said, “It’s insulation down here that’s being stirred up in the floor.” At pos :12, there is an inaudible word. (Captured on John’s recorder.)     It is the opinion of SPI that there continues to be paranormal activity at Mulligan's. It appears that the entities that reside at the restaurant are all friendly and really don't want to leave.
