Gilson Road Cemetery (First Investigation)
Nashua, NH May 30,
2009
Gilson Cemetery is said to be one of the most haunted
cemeteries in New England. It is said that Native American Indians fought some gruesome battles on
this parcel of land long before it became a burial ground. It is believed that when the land was
blessed and non-natives began being buried there, the spirits of the Native Americans became angered and
their ghostly images now roam the property creating an overall oppressive feeling. Legend claims that
an insane medicine man was exiled to this area. He would entice young braves to this area by
promising to unleash spirits that were said to be following them. He told the young braves
that releasing these spirits would make them stronger and wiser than others in their tribe. Rather
than keeping his promise, the medicine man sacrificed the braves to dark spirits. It is said that the
medicine man died on this land and now haunts the area looking for victiims to bring him back from the
grave.
There are many unmarked graves throughout this small burial
ground. Some folks believe it was used as an area to dump bodies of murdered victims. It
later became a cemetery. What we do know about Gilson Road Cemetery is that it is haunted. Many
psychics describe it as one of the most haunted places they have ever
visited.
The most common paranormal activity that people witness are light
anomalies. Around the headstone of Joseph Gilson is where many anomalies have been seen as well as
experiencing the feeling of cold spots. Some say they have witnessed full body apparitions. It is
said that a woman in white is seen walking between the graves. She tends to appear at an unmarked grave
and then disappear when she reaches the stone wall in the back of the cemetery. Others have seen
ghosts that appear in 18th century clothing as well as modern attire.
The SPI group began their investigation at approximately 7:30
p.m., the evening of May 30, 2009. Assisting us with our investigation was, Elisha, a guest
investigator and guest investigators, Dianne and Distant Wolf. Dianne has some mediumship ability
and Distant Wolf has mediumship and remote viewing abilities. Though Distant Wolf was not
born Native American, after his birth he was soon adopted by the Abenaki Tribe and raised Native
American. Before long, he learned their ways and was on his way to becoming a Shaman. They
were a true asset to our investigation. Distant Wolf and Dianne were not familiar with Gilson Road
Cemetery and did not know any of it's history.
After setting up his video camera, Distant
Wolf immediately walked toward the back corner of the right side of the cemetery and asked if
we knew anything about Native American Indians being on the land. He said he was getting a very strong
"pull" from the right corner down to the pine tree. He could also hear "gunshots." He also said
he was getting a lot of "pull" from the other side of the stonewall. He provided the name "Walter" to
us and during our investigation we did find a tombstone bearing the name of Walter Gilson who died
at 5 years old. Walter's tombstone is toward the front left side of the cemetery. He queried if
there was any information on a hanging between Walter's tombstone and two other tombstones nearby. He
was experiencing pain in his neck. We could not confirm the information about a
hanging.
As usual, during an investigation electrical circuitry can
fail. Sue's camera batteries went dead 10 minutes into the investigation and Mario's EVP recorder
batteries went dead 15 minutes into the investigation. At the same time, the battery in Distant
Wolf's video camera also expired which caused serious disappointment because we had the night ahead of
us and would not be able to capture anything on video. Throughout the evening, Sue's camera batteries
went dead a total of 4 times and Mario's EVP batteries went dead a total of 3
times.
At one point, Distant Wolf said the left hand corner in the far back of the cemetery
was "noisy." Dianne was experiencing a "heavy chest" in that same
area. Distant Wolf could once again hear "gunshots", but upon discussing with him that it is
thought that Native Americans fought battles on this land he said that he felt the "gunshots" he was hearing was
actually cannons that were being fired. Distant Wolf also experienced "cooking" smells in this same
area of the cemetery.
Note: Using headphones will enhance the audio for your
listening pleasure.
The SPI group captured a few EVP's. Mario was speaking into
his EVP recorder and asked, "Please make a sound or give me your name please" and after a long pause, you
will hear "Charles." Mario and Irene were together doing some EVP work
and in the background can be heard some of our group members speaking. Chris can be heard faintly
saying, "Oh yeah" and immediately a sound can be heard that sounds like "aaaahh aaaahh" and then Mario
and Irene can be heard saying, "I guess we are all set." During the
investigation, Irene and Mario were toward the back of the cemetery doing more EVP work. They each had
their EVP recorder on. When they reviewed their EVP's, Mario can be heard saying, "Please speak to
us." There is a slight pause and then a beep like that of a bicycle horn can be
heard. . The strange thing about this is that both recorders were side by
side, yet this sound was caught on Irene's recorder, but not on Mario's
recorder. We couldn't find anything in our surroundings that would have or could have made
that beep. Toward the latter part of the evening, Sue captured this sound on her EVP recorder, but we
cannot determine if it is a bird or if it is a whistle that might have been used by a Native American
during battle. We will let you decide.
We captured some pictures that we thought were prudent to the
investigation. To view the image gallery, please click on this link. Pictures From Gilson Road
